DeSean Jackson Says the Eagles Didn't Keep It Real When They Let Him Go
He says it came after his best season, and that the picture used against him was of a childhood friend.

DeSean Jackson says the Philadelphia Eagles didn't keep it real with him when they moved on from him right after the best season of his career.
Craig Carton asked Jackson about the rumors that came out at the time, which painted him as someone who spent time with gang members.
"I think it was just, you know, one of those things where I don't feel like they kept it real at the time."
Jackson said 2013 was Chip Kelly's first year in the NFL, and that Kelly had full control in Philadelphia. He said Kelly was making the decisions in the front office as well as coaching, and could get rid of players he didn't like.
In Jackson's view, the team simply wanted to go in a different direction. He said that would have looked bad, given the numbers he had just put up.
"That was my best year in the NFL. 83 catches, over 1300 yards, nine touchdowns."
Jackson said the claims didn't match his record.
"I never was a felon, never went to jail. Like, I had a clean slate."
He said the picture that was held up against him showed him with a childhood friend who had just gotten out of jail after beating a case. Jackson called that friend his brother.
Carton joked that if Jackson played for the Eagles now, they would probably cut him just for hanging out with him and Lil Wayne.
Looking back, Jackson said social media was new then, and he would do one thing differently.
"I probably wouldn't have put all that out knowing what I know now."
